How to Rest While Under Spiritual Attack
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
Psalm 91:1
God’s Counter-Intuitive Invitation
When we’re under spiritual attack, we might not be able to make it go away, but in the midst of the fight the Lord will give us places to rest and recharge.
This can occur at counter-intuitive moments, but it is part of God’s wisdom to us for spiritual warfare.
We’re writing to you from Lima Peru, on a trip booked over a year ago (when flights we’re $405 round trip from LA!). We have very close friends who have been ministering here for 15 years, and so we thought we’d come out to help, serve, and bless them.
But Jesus has ambushed us with a time of rest in the midst of our spiritual attacks… and we see a pattern here that any of us can experience and embrace.
What Does Rest Look Like?
It might be a big trip.
It might a day away.
It might be a few hours to have some time with Jesus (and perhaps an extra nap as well!)
It might be as a simple as a few moments to withdraw to refocus on the Lord.
It can a beautiful place, or time with friends who refresh your soul, or sitting for 5 or 10 minutes with the Lord first thing in the morning.
Rest is pausing in the moment to enjoy the Lord’s provision, rather than simply rushing on to the next task.
Rest is one of the pathways to endure the attack, and to ensure that you come out of this time of trial leaning forward into God’s Kingdom purposes.
We pray blessing over you, that whatever you are going through right now, you will find rest and shelter under the wings of the Most High God.
